Since April, Mandy Davin has been raising funds and getting fit by running a marathon a month. She has already managed to raise over £500 for two charities. If you wish to sponsor Mandy and support her fund raising
activities, please go to her website at: www.unfit2ultra.com.
Mandy’s first event was the Brighton marathon in April, running on behalf of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Followed in May, by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon in Liverpool, on behalf of Headway, the Brain Injury Charity.
In June, Mandy completed the “Endure 24”, twenty four hour endurance relay race, in Reading with a team of 8 friends, known as Glastonbury for runners! Then the Bath marathon in July, renowned for its steep hills and difficult terrain and finally, the Salisbury 54321 in August, running a gruelling 31 mile trail in six and a half hours in the rain.
In September, Mandy flies to Canada to run the Montreal marathon and in October she has signed up to run the Bournemouth marathon and one in London in November.
Mandy is now focussing on raising funds to enable her to compete in the Sahara Desert Marathon (Marathon des Sables) next year. This “Ultra Marathon” is a six day run over 150 miles and is not for the fainthearted. It has become known as the toughest foot race in the World.
Glenside will continue to follow Mandy’s progress and wish her luck in her endeavours.
