Mandy’s MDS Ultramarathon

21 August 2017
Mandy Davin has been raising funds and getting fit by running a marathon a month for the past twelve months. She has already managed to raise over £500 for two charities
– and is now concentrating her efforts on raising funds for Headway Salisbury and South Wiltshire. Working for Glenside the specialist neurorehabilitation service in South Newton, Mandy cares for people with brain injuries, and this is what made her decide to raise funds for Headway, as she sees the great work they do to support people following brain injury, and their families.

With the start of 2015, Mandy has begun to train for “the main event” as she is competing in the ultramarathon, the Marathon des Sables, running 150 miles in extreme 50 degree heat across the Sahara desert in Morocco in April.

Mandy is flying out to Zagora on 20th February as has been invited to train with Mohamad Ahansal, five times winner of the MDS, so that she can acclimatise to running in the desert.

Mandy said “I can’t wait to get out there now, training with Mohamad will be amazing. This is a challenge of a lifetime – I still can’t believe I’m going!”
